Something to share...

Here's a card I did the other night. The card itself is from Creative Cafe by Creative Imaginations; pattern papers, felt flower/leaves & journaling spot aka "sprouts" are all by Jillibean Soup; ribbon: Fancy Pants; stamps: Amuse & Technique Tuesday; brad: Heidi Swapp.

I just love the fun bright colors... I am SO ready for spring! We're expecting a nasty weekend here...ugh!

Sorry I haven't been much of a blogger this past week. Work has been a bit crazy and when I come home I've just been chillin out at night. I definitely plan on sharing a project or 2 with you on Sunday (March 1st) reveal day over at Coordinates Collections.

While I'm blogging I'd like to give a big shout out to the new girls joining us over at Scrapbook Cafe on the DT. Congrats girls and I can't wait to meet you and see your creations in the store.

Nora, ToniAnn aka TA, Cathy, and Heather

Way to go!

A picture from yesterday

So 11 years ago yesterday I gave birth to a bouncing baby boy...my how time flies. Here's a picture of the birthday boy blowing out his candles. We opted to play it safe & not try to squeeze 11 candles on this cake. You maybe be asking yourself what kind of cake...it looks a bit odd. Last year the kids decided to start using this bundt cake mold (a gift we received at Xmas to bake a gingerbread house) as a castle for their birthdays. I buy all the ingredients and supervise the baking and then I let them decorate it. This year he chose a chocolate cake that he then drizzled with icing and then used sprinkles and chocolate shavings to decorate. So saturday was baking/decorating day and yesterday was present & eating the cake day.

Not much time spent in the old SB room this weekend...made a few cards with some odds & ends laying about and did a little cleaning. Good thing I got my projects done last weekend. I have a bit going on this week, so not sure if I'll be sharing anything crafty until the weekend.

That's it for now.

Finally Friday...

It was only a 4 day week, but it was just one of those weeks! So happy it's over with.

I know it's not even March yet, but Jamie posted the previews for the April kits on her blog already. (The first 2 of the 10 we put together at CHA) It was so hard to choose.

Here's what I finally decided to go with:

Some awesome new product from Pink Paislee & Basic Grey! The only downside I'm going to have to wait a few more weeks before I can get my hands on it. Since some of the product is SO new, it hasn't shipped yet. It will probably be a month with a quick turn around. The kits have been selling out pretty fast lately so if you are interested I'd make sure you head over to Coordinates Collections early in March so you can preorder one for April delivery. (Hard to believe we are talking March/April already)

That's about it for now...I'll post later this weekend . Somebody turns 11 on Sunday....I've got a cake to bake and some presents that need wrapping. No big party this year...very low key just family.

Back to reality

well tomorrow that is. It was nice having 5 days off from work, unfortunately I must go back.

So nice not having a million things scheduled all weekend long...I actually spent more time in my scraproom than I had in a long time. Having fun and playing around. I actually got all my DT stuff done this weekend. Newsletter blurbs written, Guest DT challenge written and everything emailed off to Jamie and Lisa. Now I can play some more or just wait until next months kit comes. So nice to be stress free at the moment. Since I finished everything would you like another peek or 2?

This peek is from my favorite layout for the month....

It's very simple and clean. I used pictures I've had for a few months...just waiting for the right combination of product to tell the story. Love how it turned out!

Now it's not to say that I don't love my other projects...

On this layout I managed to use some of those great letter stickers from Jillibean Soup. I just love that font and this brown color actually went great with this months kit!

Besides scrapping I've been reading and helped Becca with a report/poster on Thomas Jefferson.
I really don't think I ever had to do anything like this when I was in 2nd grade and then she has to give an oral presentation to the class on her famous person. Boy have times changed!

On a side note, can you believe I've had this little scrappy blog going for almost a year now? I can't believe that I've kept up with it. I'm contemplating doing a little something for a "blogiversary" so stay tuned...got to give it some more thought.

Hope you have all enjoyed your weekend.

Soup's on....

Jillibean Soup that is (though it might not be a bad idea for dinner either...hmmm). Remember I mentioned and shared a picture of their product from CHA??? We found them in the new exhibitor section and fell in love with their products. I was lucky enough to get my hands on some of their stuff and thought I'd share with all my blog stalkers.

Everything on this layout is Jillibean Soup except for the buttons. I LOVE that font and the stickers are a nice weight. They have a few coordinating paper collections as well as the printed kraft papers. The pattern papers are doublesided...the papers here are from the "Minestrone Collection". Take a look at their stuff here. If you hangout over at Coordinates Collections I believe you will be seeing some of this stuff in the store and possibly in a future kit. (I'm even considering applying for their Design Team call...I think they have some really fun stuff! Just have to get up the courage )

So as to not slack on my DT duties at CC here is a sneak from the Earth kit...

Loads of fun product in this kit. See the heart stamp? (picked up yesterday at One Little Spark) After stamping in brown I traced over with a Sakura glue pen and sprinkled with glitter...kinda matches the diecut accents in the kit.

Well that's about all for now. Got lots done yesterday around the house and plan on just hanging out and creating more for the weekend while finishing up laundry (does it ever end???).

Stay tuned.

Today's my Friday!

I took tomorrow and Friday off...WooHoo ...I now have a 5 day weekend counting the holiday on Monday! So hoping to channel some of that scrappy mojo I had going on this past weekend. I've got pictures all printed out for my 1st DT project with that awesome Earth kit. I hope that I can also visit the Scrapbook Cafe and One Little Spark either tomorrow or Friday. It's been ages since I've been up to either store. I have a few other small errands to do , but I'd really just like the time to sit in my room and create. So stay tuned for some sneeks in the next few days.

Even though he saw his shadow this week...

How can you not think of spring/summer when the sun is shining, it's close to 50 degrees, the snow is melting, and you have pattern paper called "Summer Soiree" on your desk?

Well for those of you who know me, you know that I LOVE Fancy Pants and that when I saw "Summer Soiree" I was totally psyched. So out at CHA-W I managed to snag some  (There may even be a possibility of it coming up in a future kit???) Today I broke it out and started to play. One of my favorite pieces in the collection is the "Wave" paper. Here's what I came up with....

I started with the piece called "Destination" as my background. Then with the help of my xacto & scissors I cut out the wave image from the "Wave" paper. From the "Title Strips" PP I cut the "Sweet Days of Summer" strip and adhered down the left of my picture. I lightly coated my wave with glue and sprinkled with some glitter from Martha Stewart Crafts. I cut out the journaling spot from the "Cards" pattern paper. The letters are "Say it Simple" chipboard letters by Fancy Pants which I painted white and then sprinkled with glitter. I also used a Fancy Pants felt flower, small tag & pin. The button is Making Memories, photo corner is American Crafts, and Kaiser rhinestones add more sparkle to my waves.

Here's a closeup of the wave covered in glitter and bling.....

I have another layout planned with some of the new Pink Paislee papers. Not sure when I'll get to that since I just got this in the mail on Wednesday....

This is the preview picture of the "Earth" kit available for preorder over at Coordinates Collections. I anticipate diving into it real soon

If you are interested I wouldn't wait to long...I hear it's almost sold out.

Hope you all are having a good weekend.

So it snowed all night too

and we woke up to about 4 inches of snow. The kids were terribly disappointed that they did not have a snow day today. Here's a view out the back door...

I love when it sticks to the trees. Everything just looks so beautiful.

So I've been promising some peeks of some new product right?

Well let me show you my favorite release by Basic Grey this winter....Lime Rickey

I will start by giving credit for the layout design to Kelly Goree. (Retailers were given instructions for layouts to make when they placed orders)

Now my layout does differ slightly from Kelly's due to the fact that neither I or one of my partners in crime didn't completely read the instructions. You see when I came home I only had 1 of the 4 pieces of the Lime Rickey solids that were needed for this layout.( We split up all the product we had collected during the show before we left) So when I discovered this it was like deja vu for me. Sorting thru cardstock trying to find matches for pattern paper...only in the hotel I had huge swatch books(my stash of cardstock is NOT that big )

The buttons are from the Lime Rickey collection and the chipboard letters are BG and covered with the only "solid" I had from the collection (Orange Cream). You can see the entire Lime Rickey collection here.

So I'm not sure I will be posting anymore scrappy goodness until the weekend. It appears that I have developed a head cold (probably the nasty air on the airplane is to blame). May just curl up with a book tonight.

Talk later.

What's with this weather????????

Seriously...it was almost 60 deg F yesterday and now today it has been snowing since appox 6am? Fortunately since we were warm for 2 days it's not really sticking to the streets. (I'm sure it will all ice up tonight) At my house we have about 1" on the ground, but over on the island they had squat when I left at 5pm. Then by this weekend it's expected to be in the 5o's?!

Seriously what is up???

Okay...I've posted about the weather? My life must be incredibly dull at the moment. I will not bore you any more.

I do promise to get some new layouts (CHA products) posted soon, but not tonight.

I'm home....

Spent all day yesterday travelling. We left beautiful sunny WARM California about 10:30 am and didn't arrive home until a little after midnight (by the time we collected our bags and drove from Philly). As much as I miss the warm CA days it was good to be home, see the kids, and sleep in my own bed. Oh and another thing I will miss...hanging with my scrapping friends from CC. So much fun meeting someone IRL and being able to hangout and chat until all hours of the night. One of the little perks that scrapping has done for me...connecting with some totally awesome people! Here's one more view of what we left behind....

Today I will be busy doing some laundry and unpacking before the Super Bowl.

So today is the 1st of the month and that means I can show you my monthly projects. I posted them all over in the gallery at Coordinates Collections, but I thought I'd show you the altered item that was in that gift box a few posts ago. I usually steer clear of altered items, but I was totally inspired by that cute "prima" stamp that was in this months kit.

This picture really doesn't do the project justice (IMO). I first used an old frame that I had on hand, sanding it lightly so the acrylic paint would stick. Then after the paint was dry I sanded agaiun to distress the edges. To the mat board I adhered a brown piece of MM Paperie paper then cut a smaller frame from the striped Bella Blvd pattern paper and adhered to the brown. On the back side of the glass I stamped the "Prima" bird with some white Stazon Ink. I then filled inthe image of the bird with some "Stickles" in various colors. While the Stickles was still wet I layed a small pink acrylic heart by Heidi Swapp to the edge of the bird. After everything was dry I assembled the frame. In the future I expect to see a beautiful picture of three little girls in this frame

That's about it for now. I do have quite a few samples of new stuff from CHA that I'd like to create with and share here on the blog, but for now I'm just going to take it easy and relax with the family.

Talk later.
